Wordpress is an amazing site for building a website on anything you want. One thing to know first though, is that if you are trying to build a business site you cannot build it to majorly link to other sites or to affiliate links, or ad affiliate banners yourself unless your site has extremely high traffic, OR you will need either paid hosting through them, which comes with your own domain name ($17 a year), or download for free their Wordpress software and host your site elsewhere. Exceptions are if you are linking to your own material, or link discreetly and not allow the linking to other sites be the main purpose of the site. Basically they don't want scheming get rich quick bloggers posting 15 new blogs full of affiliate crap.
Going the route with the software download make sure you read through all the installation help on the wordpress.org site as I do not want to reiterate it here. All the instructions are found here and you will need other software they link to as well for the whole process.
